How I Maintained My Healthy Hair Colour From Summer to Autumn

The change in seasons can cause havoc on our wardrobe choices, complexion...and hair health. This year, I set out to go from summer to autumn with minimal damage, maximum condition and a hair colour that doesn’t hate me. Here’s how I went!
The Post-Summer Blonde, Blues...
“It was quite the summer. Lots of outdoor adventures, days on the beach, big walks, and long lunches. Loved every minute of it but unfortunately, my hair didn’t. My blonde washed up a little blah, and the condition of my hair suffered with split ends and breakage along the hair cuticle taking hold. I had my work cut out for me, so I called in the Professionals to advise me on how to correct damage on my colour-treated hair and get it to a higher level of hair health as autumn approaches."
The Salon Visit
“The first step was to book a free consultation at Hairhouse. I chatted with the Salon Stylist about my hair type, the Haircare I had been using in summer, the changes I had seen in vibrancy of my blonde and what I was hoping to achieve going into autumn. She emphasised the importance of regular trims as the first step coming out of the warmer weather to remove split ends and create shape in the hair. The next step? My at-home Haircare routine!"
The Deep Cleanse
“I learnt that like with the complexion, product build-up (hello SPF!) can also cause damage on the hair, weighing down the hair cuticle and preventing the goodness from Hair Masks, Conditioner, Heat Protectant, Hydrating Treatments, and Deep Conditioning Oils from even doing any good! So, now that I had the split ends removed, it was time for a deep cleanse of the scalp and hair at home. I invested in the best with Ori Lab Blonde Cleanse as it’s ideal for blonde hair, repairing and brightening the fabric of the hair cuticle with Camellia Oil, Quinoa Protein and Blue Cypress. It also gently eliminated unwanted warmth and brassiness in my colour.”
The Hydrate and Rebuild
“Hydration? It seemed like my hair had never heard of it this summer. It was time to deeply condition my hair, rebuilding the health that summer had taken out. This meant restoring lost nutrients in the hair cuticle with a Deep Conditioning Hair Mask. I was advised that the most important thing when choosing a Hydrating Hair Mask was to ensure it was designed for colour-treated hair. I went with Bondi Boost Rapid Repair Mask and since using it weekly, I’ve found in just ten minutes the natural blend of supercharged vegan ingredients literally revives my hair health instantly. I love the texture too, it’s super rich, but lightweight.”
The Instant Protection
“Once I had had the in-Salon trim, introduced a Hair Cleanser into my Haircare routine and was using a Leave-In Treatment weekly, my hair health had improved dramatically. The next step was to ensure I didn’t lose any of this colour vitality and goodness as I went into autumn. I‘m now obsessed with Kerastase Premiere Huile Gloss Reparatrice. Touted as the ultimate repair for sun-damaged hair, this highly conditioning Leave-In Oil corrects vulnerability in the hair shaft caused by Heat Styling, UV, Hair Colour and everyday wear and tear. I now use this without fail before Heat Styling. The shine is insane, and my hair has never looked better. Autumn, I’m ready for you!”
